Active Threat Awareness Week™
Background: In 2004, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) launched National Preparedness Month (NPM), which takes place every September. The goal of NPM is to help educate the public on how to prepare for emergencies by making plans, building emergency kits, and taking other preparedness measures. To place additional focus on maintaining situational awareness and developing a survival mindset, A-Train Tactical, LLC established the last seven days of September as Active Threat Awareness Week™.
Goal: Raise awareness by empowering individuals and organizations to take action and be better prepared for active threats.
Theme: The theme for Active Threat Awareness Week™ is Take Action, Be Prepared™.
Call to Action: We invite businesses dedicated to providing public safety solutions to join us in making our communities safer. During Active Threat Awareness Week™, increase awareness and build working relationships by donating training, products, or services to an organization that can benefit. Share your experience with us, and we will highlight it below.

ASPP Leadership Conference
A-Train Tactical traveled to Houston, Texas to participate in the 2025 Active Shooter Prevention Project (ASPP) leadership conference. This three-day event was a great opportunity to learn from industry leaders while discussing important topics related to active threats. Focusing on a PREVENTION-first model is a key concept that will help us move toward our goal of #NEVERHERE. In addition to his roles as Chairman, and nationally recognized active shooter/domestic terrorism expert, Chris Grollnek (pictured above) has been a great leader/mentor.

Last Resort Firearms Training
May 2023 presented an opportunity to attend two separate training sessions taught by Lieutenant Colonel, US Army (Retired) Ed Monk. One session, "A Study of the Active Shooter & How to Minimize Victims" was developed for the public, " and the second session, "Critical Law Enforcement Lessons-Learned from Active Shooter Attack" was developed for law enforcement officers, Mr. Monk is very knowledgeable and he provided detailed recaps of multiple active shooter incidents, best practices, and lessons learned. Ed focuses on the first 30 seconds of response and ways to help minimize the number of victims. I believe this is a very important topic for when prevention fails.
