Active Threat Awareness Training

Customized. Discussion-Based. Locaiton-Specific.

Active Threat Awareness Training™ is designed to help your personnel better understand how they may need to respond during a critical incident. Every organization and  location is unique. Our training is customized around your personnel, the facility, emergency plans, prior incidents, and perceived threats. Using a building-block approach, we focus on increasing knowledge, improving situational awareness, building confidence, and reinforcing teamwork. Rather than trying to tell your personnel what they should do in every scenario, we encourage them to utilize critical thinking skills and teamwork to bring the scenarios to a logical conclusion.

Our Approach

Active Shooter and Active Threat training does not have to traumatize participants in order to be effective. Personnel should first understand their emergency plans and procedures, recognize the options available to them, discuss what factors may affect their decisions, and how to take action.

Below are some examples of potential training topics:

  • Trend Analysis

  • Prior Incidents & Lessons Learned

  • Security Assessments

  • Emergency Action Plans

  • Maintaining Situational Awareness

  • Recognizing and Reporting Potential Threats

  • Evacuation and Lockdown Procedures

  • Run.Hide.Fight®

  • Cover vs. Concealment

  • Physiological Effects

  • Developing a Survival Mindset

  • Working as a Team

Your Facility Becomes the Backdrop

By visiting your location, we can conduct a walkthrough of your facility, talk with personnel who understand the operation, and take pictures that may be utilized during the training. Instead of using a generic floor plan and unrealistic situations, we put the work in so we can present scenarios that are specific to your location. Being able to visualize your individual response in a low-stress environment can help establish a baseline for a real-world emergency that may be both dynamic and stressful. Our training encourages participants to work together, identify potential challenges, and make informed decisions based on the circumstances as the scenario unfolds.

Active Threat vs. Active Shooter

Although our program is called Active Threat Awareness Training™, many organizations search for what is commonly referred to as Active Shooter training. We use the term Active Threat because assailants have used a variety of methods, including firearms, knives, improvised explosives, and vehicle-borne attacks, to cause harm to others. Regardless of the terminology, our goal is to help your organization increase its overall response capabilities during an emergency.
